Dads
Dad's Prayer for January 13th
A short, Scripture-shaped dads prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.
The prayer
A prayer to pray now
Father, I think about the king who built ships for gold and watched them break before they ever sailed. I have built a few of those myself. The side project that took a year and never launched. The friendship I thought would grow, but quietly faded. The savings plan a medical bill swallowed whole. I do not want to be bitter about broken ships. I want to be honest about why I built them. Was it for You, or was it for me? Where I was chasing gold, forgive me. Where I was just trying to provide, steady me. Either way, do not let a wrecked plan wreck my trust. Help me start the next thing without bracing for the same loss. Amen.

- Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
- Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
- Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
