Dads
Dad's Prayer for February 14th
A short, Scripture-shaped dads prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.
The prayer
A prayer to pray now
Father, You give what we need day by day. Not all at once. Just enough for today. I keep wanting the whole year mapped out. I want the savings goal hit and the future locked in place. But You keep offering me this one day. Help me receive it like the gift it is. The food already in the pantry. The hours I get to spend with the people I love. The work right in front of me. Today is enough. Tomorrow will get its own portion when it comes. Free me from the lie that I need a whole year’s allowance in advance to be safe. Amen.
How to pray it
- Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
- Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
- Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
