Dad’s Prayer for March 6th

A short, Scripture-shaped dads prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.

The prayer

A prayer to pray now

Father, Jesus told Nicodemus that we must be born again. Not improved. Not retrained. Born. I still keep trying to fix the old me, even though You said it has to be replaced. There is a quiet stubbornness in that. I would rather repair than die. Take the stubbornness gently. The old man in me is not worth saving. The new one only comes from You. Today, do whatever small piece of that work needs doing. Put something to death that does not belong to the new life. Bring something forward that does. I am not picky about the order or the speed. Just keep at the work. I will stop interfering with it. Amen.

How to pray it

  1. Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
  2. Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
  3. Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.

Verses to pray
