Dad’s Prayer for March 18th

A short, Scripture-shaped dads prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.

The prayer

A prayer to pray now

Father, Your Word says that everyone who puts faith in Jesus is Your child. Everyone. Not just the ones I like. Not just the ones who think like me. Everyone. Soften the way I rank people in my head. The brother at church who gets on my nerves — he is Your child. The relative whose faith looks messy to me — Your child. The colleague whose opinions push me away — I may not know what is in his heart, but I know You love him. Tear down the walls I built to feel comfortable. By dinner today, let me treat someone as a sibling that I usually treat as a stranger or an enemy. Amen.

How to pray it

  1. Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
  2. Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
  3. Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
