Dads
Dad’s Prayer for March 23rd
A short, Scripture-shaped dads prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.
The prayer
A prayer to pray now
Lord Jesus, You sweated blood in the garden. Your obedience cost You everything. Mine has not cost me much right now. A few inconveniences. A little reputation. Nothing close to blood. So today I will not make my small sacrifices sound big. I will not act like getting up early to pray was heroic. I will not call my kindness at work "carrying a cross." Keep me honest, God. When something harder comes — and it will — let me not look away. For now, help me see what You really paid. Let that change the way I live this ordinary day. Amen.
How to pray it
- Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
- Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
- Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
Verses to pray
