Dad's Prayer for March 24th

A short, Scripture-shaped dads prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.

The prayer

A prayer to pray now

Father, Jesus prayed with real human fear. He was heard, not by taking the cross away, but by being heard. I have been hesitant to bring my fear to You as fear. I want to clean it up first. Stop me. Bring it raw. The fear of being unable to provide if the work dries up. The fear of failing as a father in ways my kids will carry for years. The fear of dying before I am done. Hear me in them. Being heard is the answer. Not always rescue. Often endurance. Let me leave today with my fear known to You, and lighter, even if not gone.

Amen.

How to pray it

  1. Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
  2. Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
  3. Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
