Dad's Prayer for May 29th

A short, Scripture-shaped dads prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.

The prayer

A prayer to pray now

Father, Your Word says You hate wickedness. That includes the small acts of wickedness I let slide in myself. The cruelty I call honesty. The lies I call being careful. The selfishness I call providing for my family. Help me hate what You hate. Not in other people. In me. Make me less okay with what You are not okay with. I am not trying to be perfect. I just want to want what You want. To say no to what You say no to. To say yes to what You say yes to. Amen.

How to pray it

  1. Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
  2. Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
  3. Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
