Dads
Dad's Prayer for July 25th
A short, Scripture-shaped dads prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.
The prayer
A prayer to pray now
Father, when Joseph ran from Potiphar's wife, he did the hardest thing, and he did it fast. He did not stop to argue. He did not wait to see what would happen next. He left his cloak behind, and he ran.
Most of my temptations are quieter than his, but the answer is still the same. There is a tab I should close before I click. The talk that is heading somewhere I do not want to go. The bottle that starts as one night and becomes a bigger problem. The phone in bed that slowly hurts the marriage I love.
Give me a clean way out. Help me leave the cloak behind. Help me close the tab, walk away, put the phone down, before I talk myself into staying.
Lord Jesus, You promised a way out of every temptation. Help me take it the first time, not the third. Make me a man who runs toward You instead of staying to argue with sin.
Amen.
How to pray it
- Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
- Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
- Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.

Genesis 39:12No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.
