Dads
Dad's Prayer for August 5th
A short, Scripture-shaped dads prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.
The prayer
A prayer to pray now
Father, You promised in Romans 8:28 that all things work together for good for those who love You. I believe that on the easy days. On the hard days, I struggle.
I think You are asking me to see further ahead than I usually do. A rough season at work might be what finally frees me from making my job an idol. A broken friendship might teach me how to be a better friend to the ones still here.
Help me hold onto this truth without using it to ignore real grief. The pain is still pain. But it is not random. You are not asleep on the night shift.
Lord Jesus, You make all things new — sometimes slowly, but You do it. Help me move through this August, trusting that You are working even now.
Amen.
How to pray it
- Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
- Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
- Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
