Dads
Dad's Prayer for August 10th
A short, Scripture-shaped dads prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.
The prayer
A prayer to pray now
Father, Your Word says in Colossians 3:4 that Christ is our life. Not an add-on. Not a hobby. Not just one part of my week. Our life. There is no version of me that is truly me without Him.
But that is not how I live most days. I act like I have a church life, a work life, a home life, and a private life. And the church life is what I take care of on Sundays and maybe one night a week. The rest runs on its own.
Lord Jesus, tear down those walls. Be my life in the meeting at work the same way You are in my small group. Be my life in how I drive, how I treat people, and how I answer my kids on a busy school morning.
You are not one piece of my day. You are supposed to be all of me. Help me stop holding back. Help me let You be my whole life.
Amen.
How to pray it
- Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
- Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
- Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
