Dads
Dad's Prayer for August 13th
A short, Scripture-shaped dads prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.
The prayer
A prayer to pray now
Father, Psalm 104:16 talks about the cedars You planted. You put them in a place You chose. You sent the rain that fed them. They did not pick the spot. They just grew.
I have spent a lot of energy trying to pick the spot. The right job. The right neighborhood. The right church. The right schools. Some of those choices mattered. But more often than I want to admit, You planted me somewhere, and I am still arguing with the soil.
Help me trust the planting. The family I have, the city I am in, the work I do — these are not accidents. Help me stay. Help me drink from what You send.
Lord Jesus, the trees You planted stand strong. Help me stand strong where I am, instead of pulling up and starting over every time the weather turns.
Amen.
