Dad’s Prayer for August 30th

A short, Scripture-shaped dads prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.

The prayer

A prayer to pray now

Father, Psalm 27:14 says to wait on You and be strong. I see now that waiting takes courage. Courage is not always about moving fast. Sometimes it is sitting still when everyone wants me to act.

Right now, I have a job choice I do not have enough answers for. I have a kid who needs space, not another talk. I have a friend where pushing too hard would break what is still good. Waiting feels weak, but Your Word says it is brave.

Make me a man with the courage to wait. Not a man who hides from hard choices, but a man who knows when to pause and when to move.

Lord Jesus, You stayed at the Father's pace, not the crowd's. Set me at Your pace this week. Help me wait without fear, and when it is time to act, help me move without holding back.

Amen.

How to pray it

  1. Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
  2. Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
  3. Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
