Dads
Dad's Prayer for October 16th
A short, Scripture-shaped dads prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.
The prayer
A prayer to pray now
Father, Jesus once invited His friends to breakfast on the beach. Not a meeting. Not a lecture. Just fish, fire, and being together.
I tend to treat time with You like a test I might fail. But some of the best moments in the gospels happen over food, in small groups, with no plan beyond just being with Him.
Help me come to You this week without being so tense. Not every prayer has to be hard. Some can just be the breakfast kind. I sit. You serve. We eat. The air settles.
Lord Jesus, You feed Your people. Feed me today in some plain way. A small, clear word from Scripture. An unexpected kindness. A quiet moment in the car line. Help me take it as the meal, not just the warm-up.
Amen.
How to pray it
- Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
- Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
- Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
