Grandmother’s Prayer for January 16th
A short, Scripture-shaped grandmothers prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.
The prayer
A prayer to pray now
Father, You promised to help me, even when I feel small. Sometimes I feel like a worm. Some mornings, my legs hurt on the way to the bathroom, and that word fits. Worm. Yes. But You are not ashamed of me. You help me anyway. That is the news I keep needing. Today, my body asks more than I want to give. My courage runs out early. There is a phone call I do not want to make, but I should. You are not waiting for me to look strong. You are already moving toward me as Helper. Let me lean on that. Let me stop pretending for people who are not even watching. Just me and You, Lord. You do the heavy work. Amen.

- Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
- Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
