Grandmother’s Prayer for February 28th
A short, Scripture-shaped grandmothers prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.
The prayer
A prayer to pray now
Father, You promised to keep in perfect peace the one whose mind stays on You, because that person trusts You. That verse was my mother's favorite. She wrote it on an index card and kept it inside her Bible, which now sits inside mine. The promise has been tested in two lifetimes already. The peace is real when my mind stays on You. The peace fades when my mind wanders. So I am choosing this morning to keep my mind on You. On who You are. On the truth that what You pour into my life has been measured by the One who knows me. I trust You because You have been faithful across two generations of women in this family, and across all my years. This peace is not a feeling I make up. It is what happens inside a heart that keeps coming back to the same true God. Keep me coming back this morning. Keep me there as long as I can. And when I wander, bring me back again.
Amen.
