Grandmother’s Prayer for March 1st

A short, Scripture-shaped grandmothers prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.

The prayer

A prayer to pray now

Father, You gave Your Son for what I did wrong, and You raised Him so I could be set right. Romans 4:25 holds both halves together, and I need both.

Sometimes I spend the whole morning on the first half. All my failures sit heavy. But You carried them without strain. The second half is the part that lets me eat breakfast and answer the phone. Justified. Not on probation. Not waiting to see how the next month goes.

You took my offenses to the grave and left them there. Settle me into both halves this morning. Let His dying cover what I need to confess. Let His rising set me upright for the day.

I will not take only one half and leave the other behind. Jesus did both works for me. Let me receive them with the calm of someone who has been receiving them for a long time and intends to keep on until the last morning.

Amen.

How to pray it

  1. Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
  2. Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
  3. Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
