Grandmother’s Prayer for March 24th

A short, Scripture-shaped grandmothers prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.

The prayer

A prayer to pray now

Father, Your Son died and rose again. Now He sits at Your right hand, praying for me. That means nobody gets to condemn me. Not me, when I am hardest on myself. Not the enemy, with all his accusations. Not even a fellow believer who is right about the Bible but wrong about love. Jesus is the highest court, and His verdict is final. Help me sit in that verdict today. The small failures of yesterday, You already covered them. The hard things I expect today, Jesus is already praying for them. I do not need to keep fighting battles that are already won. So let me get on with this day. There are small kindnesses to do. There are small letters to write. There is a small obedience right in front of me. I am not being watched by a critic. I am being watched over by the Son who died for me. Amen.

How to pray it

  1. Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
  2. Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
  3. Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.

Verses to pray

Pray these slowly, one line at a time. Scripture quoted from a public-domain translation.

  1. Who is he who condemns? It is Christ who died, yes rather, who was raised from the dead, who is at the right hand of God, who also makes intercession for us.
    Romans 8:34
