Grandmother’s Prayer for March 28th

A short, Scripture-shaped grandmothers prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.

The prayer

A prayer to pray now

Father, You promised in Your Word that You will not cast me off when I am old. You will not leave me when my strength is gone. I bring that promise to You today because I need it.

There are hard days. Days when my body is slow, and my spirit is tired. Days when I feel weak and a little afraid. I do not want to pretend that fear is not there. But Your Word names the fear and then answers it. You do not cast me off. You do not walk away.

My strength was never what held me to You. Your Son and His work are what hold me. That work does not get weaker when I do. Your grip does not loosen because my hands are shaky.

So let me live today like a held person. Not panicked. Not pretending. Just steady, because You have not let go. Let me love the people in front of me with the calm of someone who knows she is held.

Amen.

How to pray it

  1. Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
  2. Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
  3. Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
