Grandmother’s Prayer for August 30th
A short, Scripture-shaped grandmothers prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.
The prayer
A prayer to pray now
Father, I am in a waiting season I would not have chosen. The lab work is not back. My middle son and his wife are in a hard place. My granddaughter has not called in three weeks. Psalm 27:14 says to wait on You, be of good courage, and You will strengthen my heart. That is the order. Wait. Be brave while I wait. Then You strengthen the heart. Lord, the courage in the waiting is not me holding it all together on my own. It is trust that You are doing work in the silence I cannot yet see. The waiting is forced on me anyway. The courage in it is a gift only You give. Strengthen my heart for this in-between time. Let me not rush the children. Let me not rush the doctor. Let me not rush You. Make my waiting an active trust, not an anxious stillness. Then bring the strengthening You promised, in Your time, in a way I will recognize as Yours. Amen.
