Kids Prayer for January 11th

A short, Scripture-shaped kids prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.

The prayer

A prayer to pray now

Father, Your Word says some plants grow fast but have no roots, and they die when the sun gets hot. I do not want to be like that. Make me the kind of kid who keeps following You when life gets hard, when my best friend moves. When my grandma gets sick. When I do not feel like praying. Send my roots deep, please. Down where the dry days cannot reach. Down past my feelings into the place where You are. Amen.

How to pray it

  1. Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
  2. Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
  3. Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.

Verses to pray

Pray these slowly, one line at a time. Scripture quoted from a public-domain translation.

  1. Those on the rock are they who, when they hear, receive the word with joy; but these have no root. They believe for a while, then fall away in time of temptation.
