Kids Prayer for July 13th

A short, Scripture-shaped kids prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.

The prayer

A prayer to pray now

Dear God, in Jonah 4, You asked Jonah if it was good for him to be so angry. He was mad about a plant. I get mad about little things, too. About my turn. About my snack. About the way my brother breathes. I do not always do well when I am angry. Could You catch me when my chest starts to tighten today? Soften me before I yell. Even Jonah needed help with his temper. So do I. Teach me to stop and ask myself: Is it good to be this mad? Help me listen for Your voice in that moment. Amen.

How to pray it

  1. Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
  2. Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
  3. Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
