New Mothers Prayer for January 6th

A short, Scripture-shaped new mothers prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.

The prayer

A prayer to pray now

Father, my mind right now is a list. Diapers, the doctor's call back, my mother's birthday, and the bill I have not opened. You told us to cast all our cares on You, because You care for us.

Casting is not a tidy word. It is a throw. So let me throw this list at You. Not file it, not organize it, not pray through it in the right order. Throw it.

You are not embarrassed by the small worries mixed in with the large ones. You do not need me to sort them by size. I am not Your secretary. I am Your daughter.

Take the list. Hand back to me only the next thing You want me to do. Then help me do that one thing and trust You with the rest.

Amen.
