New Mothers Prayer for January 11th

A short, Scripture-shaped new mothers prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.

The prayer

A prayer to pray now

Father, Jesus said in Luke 8 that some seeds had no root. I am afraid my faith looks deep but is actually thin, that nights like last night would show it for what it is.

Quiet that fear. Roots grow in the dark, in the cold, in seasons when nothing seems to be happening. I am in one of those seasons.

You are patient with my slow growth. You send the rain I cannot see. Let me trust that the prayers I barely manage in the rocking chair are reaching down into something real.

Make me content with hidden growth. Do not let me measure my faith by how it looks from the outside. Plant me. Hold me here.

Amen.

How to pray it

  1. Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
  2. Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
  3. Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.

Verses to pray
