New Mothers Prayer for January 12th
A short, Scripture-shaped new mothers prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.
The prayer
A prayer to pray now
Father, Paul wrote in 1 Corinthians 3, "You are Christ's." Three small words.
I do not feel like much today belongs to me. My body still feels borrowed. My time is not mine. My sleep is not mine. The baby in my arms is mine and not mine, given and on loan.
But I am Yours. That has not changed since the day You first loved me. It did not depend on me feeling close to You then, and it does not depend on me feeling close to You now.
Let me hold on to that one truth today. When I forget myself, when I am cranky, when I cannot find words to pray, when the house is loud, I am still Christ's. Let that be the ground under everything else.
Amen.
