New Mothers Prayer for January 18th
A short, Scripture-shaped new mothers prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.
The prayer
A prayer to pray now
Father, Hebrews 4 says, "There remains a rest for the people of God." Tonight, that promise feels far away. The actual rest in this house is fifteen minutes between feedings.
I am not asking You to hand me deep sleep on demand. I am asking You to keep the promise alive in me. To remind me that this stretch is not forever. That rest is real, and I am walking toward it.
Until then, let the small rests count. The pause when she finally sleeps on my chest. The five quiet minutes with my coffee before she wakes. The moment of stillness in this prayer.
These are not the rest. But they are a taste of it. I will receive each one as a sign of what You have promised.
Amen.
