New Mothers Prayer for January 20th

A short, Scripture-shaped new mothers prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.

The prayer

A prayer to pray now

Father, in Your Bible, we read about Abel, a shepherd who quietly cared for small, living things day after day. You were pleased with his steady, faithful work.

That is what I am doing right now. Tending a small living thing. Wiping her face. Burping her. Watching her breathe to make sure she still is.

This work is no less holy because no one sees it or claps for it. You notice. You receive it.

Help me stop measuring my days by the things I did not get to. Help me measure them by the love and attention I gave to the one You placed in my care. That is enough. That is my offering today.

Help me bring it without looking down on it.

Amen.
