New Mothers Prayer for January 28th

A short, Scripture-shaped new mothers prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.

The prayer

A prayer to pray now

Father, Your Word says I am complete in Christ Jesus. That is a strange thing to read in a house where nothing is perfect. The dishes are stacked. My baby's onesie has spit-up on it. I am wearing yesterday's shirt.

Yet in Christ I am whole right now. Not when the house is clean. Not when I have prayed better. Right here, in this kitchen, as I am.

I do not have to perform for anyone. My place with You was settled at the cross, not at the sink.

Free me today to do small things without shame. The dishes will be done badly. The day will be lived imperfectly. And I will still be Yours.

Amen.
