New Mothers Prayer for February 14th
A short, Scripture-shaped new mothers prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.
The prayer
A prayer to pray now
Father, 2 Kings 25 ends with a strange, small mercy. The exiled king was given "a continual allowance, a daily rate for every day." Not a fortune. A daily ration that arrived without fail.
That is what I need. I cannot stockpile strength. I cannot bank patience. I cannot prepare a week of love in advance.
You give a daily rate. The hour's worth of grace for the hour I am in. The patience for the next diaper change, the strength for the next late night, the joy for the next small smile.
Help me stop trying to hoard. Help me take what I need now, knowing tomorrow's ration will arrive when tomorrow does.
You have never missed a day. I will trust You with this one and rest in that.
Amen.
