New Mothers Prayer for February 24th

A short, Scripture-shaped new mothers prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.

The prayer

A prayer to pray now

Father, Ezekiel 34 says, "I will cause the shower to come down in his season; there shall be showers of blessing." Showers, not floods. Steady, in season. Not all at once.

I have been waiting for one big blessing to fix this hard season. A great night of sleep. A breakthrough with the baby. A clear word about a decision we are facing.

You usually bless in showers. A friend's call yesterday. The good doctor's visit. The quiet half-hour of light through the window this morning. The small comfort I felt in this verse just now.

Let me notice the showers instead of holding out for the flood. The blessings have been falling. I have been looking at the wrong sky.

Open my eyes to today's drops.

Amen.
