New Mothers Prayer for March 17th

A short, Scripture-shaped new mothers prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.

The prayer

A prayer to pray now

Father, You told us to remember the poor. I have been so tired I can barely think past my own door. The world has shrunk to the next bottle and the next nap.

Forgive me for how small my life has become. Tonight, someone else is tired and has less than I have. Someone else is crying with no one to help.

I do not have to do a lot. Let me pray for the woman in the shelter across town. Let me give a few dollars I can spare. Let me make a meal for the neighbor down the hall who is sick.

Stretch my heart even an inch beyond this kitchen today. Do not let my baby and me be the only people I see.

Amen.
