New Mothers Prayer for July 8th

A short, Scripture-shaped new mothers prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.

The prayer

A prayer to pray now

Father, I keep checking my own strength like a phone battery, expecting to find it low. The answer is not in me. My strength is not a feeling I can pull up at three in the morning. It is Your promise, given again as I get out of bed. Let me act before I feel — pick up the baby before I feel patient, hum a song before I feel tender, swallow the snap before I feel calm. Even in the tired, there is a small glad thing You are doing. The feeling can come later, or never. The next loving thing does not need it to begin. Amen.

How to pray it

  1. Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
  2. Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
  3. Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
