New Mothers Prayer for July 14th
A short, Scripture-shaped new mothers prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.
The prayer
A prayer to pray now
Father, the half-folded laundry is still on the couch, and I almost did not pray this morning because I could not find beautiful words. You once told Your people to build an altar with stones left just as they were, no tool, no polish. Let my rough prayer count too. The half-sentence on the way to the changing table. The thanks given through a yawn. The single word whispered into the steam of the kettle. You receive the raw stone. Let me stop trying to dress up my morning, so it can finally begin. Amen.
How to pray it
- Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
- Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
- Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.

Pray these slowly, one line at a time. Scripture quoted from a public-domain translation.
