New Mothers Prayer for July 31st

A short, Scripture-shaped new mothers prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.

The prayer

A prayer to pray now

Lord Jesus, in John 17, You prayed that You would be in us. That word is stronger than I usually let myself receive. I have lived this week as if I were running the house by myself, with You somewhere down the hall. But You are not down the hall. You are in. The same air I breathe over the crib at three in the morning is the air You fill. Help me live today as someone You live in, not as someone left in charge while You stepped out. This work is not as alone as it feels. Amen.

How to pray it

  1. Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
  2. Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
  3. Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.

Verses to pray

Pray these slowly, one line at a time. Scripture quoted from a public-domain translation.

    John 17:23
  2. I made known to them your name, and will make it known; that the love with which you loved me may be in them, and I in them.”
    John 17:26
