New Mothers Prayer for August 5th
A short, Scripture-shaped new mothers prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.
The prayer
A prayer to pray now
Father, the rocking chair creaks when I shift the baby on my shoulder. Paul writes in Romans 8 that all things work together for good for those who love You. Help me hold that word with care, because in a hard hour it can sound like a slogan. It is not a slogan. It is a promise. The hard parts of today are not random. They are not punishment. They are also not the whole picture. Help me trust that the broken nap and the dropped milk and the long crying jag are being woven into something I cannot see yet. I am tired, Lord. I do not need to call all of this good. I just need to trust that You are still working. Hold me while I hold this child. Amen.
