New Mothers Prayer for August 20th
A short, Scripture-shaped new mothers prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.
The prayer
A prayer to pray now
Father, David prayed when he was hiding. He prayed when he was king. He prayed when he was sorry. He prayed when he was glad. I will not have one mood today. I will not get to pick. Let my prayers be like his. The angry one. The grateful one. The exhausted one. The short, surprised one. None of them are the wrong prayer. You took all of his. Take all of mine. Let me bring You whatever this next hour gives me without cleaning it up first. Amen.
How to pray it
- Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
- Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
- Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
