New Mothers Prayer for September 7th

A short, Scripture-shaped new mothers prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.

The prayer

A prayer to pray now

Lord Jesus, in Mark 2, the men who carried their paralyzed friend could not reach You through the crowd, so they tore open the roof. Faith found a way. This week I have told myself I cannot reach You the way I used to. My quiet hour is gone. My long study is gone. My old morning routine is gone. Show me the roof to open. A one-line prayer while I fold the laundry. A verse on the fridge. A hum over the bath. A whispered thank You when the baby smiles at me. Help me find the small, low doors back to You. Just as those friends got their man to You through the roof, please let me find my way to You again. Amen.

How to pray it

  1. Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
  2. Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
  3. Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.

Verses to pray
