New Mothers Prayer for September 28th

A short, Scripture-shaped new mothers prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.

The prayer

A prayer to pray now

Father, Psalm 33 says You look down from heaven. Your looking is not watching to catch me. It is paying attention. I have felt invisible this week — to my husband most of the day, to the friends I have not heard from, even to myself in the bathroom mirror. You look. Steady, full attention, without distraction. Your look does not need anything from me. It just rests. Let me rest under it for one minute before the next demand begins. You see me. That is not nothing. That is the whole sky. Amen.

  2. Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
  3. Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
