New Mothers Prayer for September 30th
A short, Scripture-shaped new mothers prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.
The prayer
A prayer to pray now
Father, my voice is hoarse, and the baby is asleep on my chest. Psalm 66 tells me to sing about the greatness of Your name. I will not sing this morning the way I used to. The baby is asleep on me. My voice is rough. The house needs to be quiet. Let the praise be hummed. Let the praise be whispered over the cup of coffee. Let the praise be a single sentence said out loud to no one. The praise does not need a stage. It needs a heart that names You. I name You, Father. I name You good. I name You faithful. I name You near. That is my song before lunch. Amen.
