Joseph And Potiphar’s Wife Prayer
A short, Scripture-shaped bible story prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.
The prayer
A prayer to pray now
Father, Joseph stood at a closed door. A woman pulled at his coat. No one in the house would know. But You would know. He chose You over his freedom, and it cost him everything. Form me like that. When I face a choice no one else can see, remind me that You are watching. Give me the strength to say no, even when it hurts. If doing right costs me, help me pay it. You are God in the hard place and in the good place. Keep my heart true to You behind every closed door. Amen.
How to pray it
- Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
- Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
- Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
Verses to pray
Pray these slowly, one line at a time. Scripture quoted from a public-domain translation.
No one is greater in this house than I am, and he has not kept back anything from me but you, because you are his wife. How then can I do this great wickedness, and sin against God?”
Genesis 39:9
