Teens Prayer for January 2nd
A short, Scripture-shaped teens prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.
The prayer
A prayer to pray now
Father, there are two versions of me — the one I show and the one I really am. You see both. You told us to keep praying, not just when things are bad or when I want to sound spiritual. I have been praying like someone is watching. I have been trying to sound good instead of being honest. I am tired. I am jealous of someone I should not be jealous of. I told a story last week and I knew part of it was not true. None of this is new to You. I am the one just now seeing it. Help me catch myself when I am putting on a show instead of talking to You. Take off the mask. I do not want to look better — I want to be one person, not two. Show me one place to start being honest: with my parents, with the friend I have been trying to control, with myself in the mirror tonight. Make me whole, not just admired. Amen.
