Teens Prayer for January 17th
A short, Scripture-shaped teens prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.
The prayer
A prayer to pray now
Father, I lied to a teacher today about a missed assignment. Then I lied to myself about the lie. It was dishonest, and I worked hard to make it sound smooth. Forgive me for that. Tomorrow I am going to find Mrs. R and tell her the truth. Not a long explanation. Not a polished excuse dressed up as honesty. Just the real sentence. Let me say it plain and accept whatever comes from it. Today also had unearned mercy in it. A friend bought me lunch because I forgot mine. My mom did not push when I came home quiet. The dog forgave me for being short with him. I receive what was real today. Quiet the loop tonight. Amen.
How to pray it
- Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
- Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
- Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
