Teens Prayer for February 10th

A short, Scripture-shaped teens prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.

The prayer

A prayer to pray now

Lord, I forgot I was praying. I sat down, and now I'm just thinking about a conversation from yesterday and the song that's been stuck in my head all morning. This is my prayer life, and I'm going to stop pretending it's tidier than it is. Paul said he learned to be content in every situation. I have not learned that. I am full of half-thoughts. Take whatever this is. The mind that wandered is still the mind You made. Use even the wandering. The Spirit prays inside me when I cannot form a sentence. Christ stands between me and the Father whether I am paying attention or not. That is the actual good news: my showing up badly is enough because of who I'm showing up to. Help me come back tomorrow. Bad prayer, regular schedule, no shame attached. Amen.

How to pray it

  1. Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
  2. Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
  3. Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.

Verses to pray

Pray these slowly, one line at a time. Scripture quoted from a public-domain translation.

  1. I know how to be humbled, and I also know how to abound. In any and all circumstances I have learned the secret both to be filled and to be hungry, both to abound and to be in need.
    Philippians 4:12
