Teens Prayer for February 12th

A short, Scripture-shaped teens prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.

The prayer

A prayer to pray now

Father, there is a thing I am supposed to do for a friend who is going through something hard, and I do not feel up to it. I am tired. I would rather watch a show and pretend I did not know. But You said that when we share in hard things, Your comfort grows in us too. I have not paid that cost yet. Let me do the small thing tonight that I do not feel like doing — the text, the visit, the call, the actual leaving of my room. The feeling will not catch up first. The feeling almost never does. The act is the love. Your warmth meets me there. Take my reluctance and walk me through the door anyway. They do not need a hero. They need a friend who showed up when it was inconvenient. That can be me. Help me move. Amen.

How to pray it

  1. Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
  2. Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
  3. Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
