Teens Prayer for April 20th

A short, Scripture-shaped teens prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.

The prayer

A prayer to pray now

Father, I start praying, and my brain is already somewhere else. A song is stuck in my head. My phone is buzzing. Tomorrow's test is sitting in the back of my mind. Hebrews 2:14 says Jesus became human like us — He knows what it feels like to be tired and distracted and pulled in ten directions. He is not embarrassed by my brain. I do not have to get my thoughts perfect before I talk to You. I can start right here, with the mess and the noise and the wandering. Use the distraction. Use the fact that I keep coming back, even though I am not good at this. Your Spirit prays in me when I do not have the words. Jesus stands with me when my mind drifts. This relationship is held by You, not by how well I perform. Same chair tomorrow. Five minutes. Trying again. Amen.

How to pray it

  1. Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
  2. Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
  3. Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
