Teens Prayer for April 22nd

A short, Scripture-shaped teens prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.

The prayer

A prayer to pray now

Father, I have been using my strong feelings to excuse my anger. But feeling something deeply does not make it right. You gave Jesus to be my Prince and my Savior. You give repentance and forgiveness as gifts. I cannot make myself repent by trying harder. So I am asking You for that gift now. This week, I have been walking around the house angry. Some of it made sense. Most of it was just me feeling sorry for myself. I want to act differently even before I feel differently. Tomorrow I will not slam the door. I will not snap at my brother for breathing. I will not send the mean message I have been writing. The feeling may calm down later. It may not. But the action is where I obey. Move me, Lord. Amen.

How to pray it

  1. Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
  2. Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
  3. Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
