Teens Prayer for April 28th
A short, Scripture-shaped teens prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.
The prayer
A prayer to pray now
Father, I keep wanting people to feel sorry for me, even when nothing very serious is going on. You promised me real hope, and I keep ignoring it. I have a roof, food, a family that mostly tries, a body that mostly works, and friends who mostly show up. Not being perfect is not the same as being the most overwhelmed person in my group chat. Take the need to be felt sorry for. I do not have to invent suffering to be allowed to be tired. Help me be honest about what is actually hard and skip the dramatic version. Tomorrow, when someone asks how I am, I will say something true instead of pretending everything is worse than it is. Amen.
How to pray it
- Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
- Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
- Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
Verses to pray
Pray these slowly, one line at a time. Scripture quoted from a public-domain translation.
Now therefore, take to yourselves seven bulls and seven rams, and go to my servant Job, and offer up for yourselves a burnt offering; and my servant Job shall pray for you, for I will accept him, that I not deal with you according to your folly. For you have not spoken of me the thing that is right, as my servant Job has.”
Job 42:8
