Teens Prayer for July 7th

A short, Scripture-shaped teens prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.

The prayer

A prayer to pray now

Father, I am bad at this. I will pray for myself for an hour and forget the people I am annoyed with for a week. There are people I am supposed to love who I am barely tolerating right now. A sibling. A teammate. A parent on a bad day. That one classmate. I do not have to like them by tonight. But I can pray for them. So I am doing that, even if it feels fake at first. God, help them. Whatever they are carrying that makes them act like that, meet them there. Soften their hearts where they have gotten hard. And keep me from replaying my anger over and over today. That replay is what is hurting me, not them. I ask You to use this prayer to change me more than to fix them. Amen.

How to pray it

  1. Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
  2. Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
  3. Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.

Verses to pray
