Teens Prayer for July 25th

A short, Scripture-shaped teens prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.

The prayer

A prayer to pray now

Father, in Genesis 39, Joseph ran. He did not stay to argue. He did not try to make it work. He just ran. I keep trying to argue with the thing that is bad for me. I think I can sit close and not give in. But that is not how it works. Show me what I should be running from today. The conversation. The website. The thought I keep replaying. Sometimes the strong move is the fast exit. Give me the courage to lose face, to look weird, to bail early, to put the thing away, for the sake of the kind of person I want to be tomorrow. Joseph lost his coat that day and was misjudged for years. The cost was real. So was the freedom. Make me willing to pay that kind of cost. Amen.

How to pray it

  1. Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
  2. Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
  3. Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
