Teens Prayer for July 29th

A short, Scripture-shaped teens prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.

The prayer

A prayer to pray now

Father, Psalm 73 says, "Nevertheless I am continually with You; You hold my right hand." That word nevertheless does a lot of work. After all my doubts. After feeling stupid yesterday. After the days I forgot You completely. Nevertheless, I am still here. You are still here. Your hand is still holding mine. That is the part I want to keep. Let “nevertheless” be the word I land on when I look back at my week. Not "I had a great week," because most weeks I did not. Just "nevertheless, I was held." That is enough to sleep on. That is enough to wake up to. Walking with You has never been perfect, but You have never let go. Hold my hand again tonight without making me apologize for the day. Amen.

How to pray it

  1. Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
  2. Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
  3. Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
