Teens Prayer for August 8th

A short, Scripture-shaped teens prayer for an ordinary moment of Christian faith.

The prayer

A prayer to pray now

Father, Isaiah 59 talks about people who weave spider webs. The webs look like something, but they cannot hold weight. That is a lot of what I do online. I post a version of myself that seems more okay than I really am. The web looks fine until someone pushes on it. Today, help me stop weaving for a minute. You see me without the cover story. You know the real me. Friends who love me actually want the real one, not the polished one. Help me say one true thing in the next conversation I have. Just one. That is how the web starts to come down, not by telling everyone at once, but by telling the truth to one safe person. The web takes energy to keep up. Truth, even when it is hard, is easier to live with than a lie I have to keep fixing. Amen.

How to pray it

  1. Read it slowly. Move through this prayer one line at a time, out loud if you can, letting each phrase land before the next.
  2. Make it personal. Pause where a line meets your day and name the person, fear, or hope it touches before God.
  3. Carry it with you. Keep one sentence with you — on your phone or in your pocket — and return to it when the day gets loud.
